Where Zürihonig is made

On two Zurich rooftops, at the edge of the woods in Höngg and in the meadows around Lake Zurich.

Zürihonig from the Globus‑rooftop

There is a buzzing and humming on the roof of Zurich's premium‑department store on Bahnhofstrasse: our bee colonies produce Zürihonig here – exclusively for the Globus Delicatessa.

In summer around 40’000 busy city bees per colony are out and about. They explore the Pestalozzi gardens, the banks of the Sihl, the National Museum park, the Lindenhof and the old botanical garden – and find an enormous choice of trees, flowers and blossoms. Right in the middle of the city.

In May and June we harvest the aromatic spring blossom here, later in the summer the fine summer harvest.

Our bees reach for the stars: the colonies live in the roof garden of the Zurich Marriott Hotel. In the middle of the city, near the National Museum‑park and the banks of the Limmat – a neighbourhood full of flowers, trees and shrubs.

Warmer temperatures in the centre and an abundance of blossom provide plenty of dolce vita: first nectar for the bees, then first-class honey for discerning gourmets.

The honey also inspires the hotel's kitchen: the chefs conjure «Haut Miel» into refined haute‑cuisine‑dishes. Available in the 125‑gram‑jar at the hotel.

Where the city gives way to the woods stands the Höngg apiary. Our blossom honey comes from here.

Zürihonig from the countryside

Bees that land in the country rather than the city produce honey just as tasty and interesting. The country bees of Zurich find their food in the lush nature – around Lake Zurich and on the sunny side of the city's own mountain.

With Zürihonig from the country you bring a spoonful of unspoilt nature into the city. Or two. Or three.

The beekeepers

Every location has someone looking after it – all year round, not only at harvest time.
